I was helping a guy who had a learning disability one time. He told me his oven didn’t work because he went to cook a pizza and forgot he’d stored all of his plastic containers there.
A toaster really does make better toast, but I sacrifice that to have the Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fryer Oven, because it’s super useful. You can put a 12" pizza in it, and bake cookies, or roast veggies on a sheet pan. Etc.
@Kyeh I’m getting ready to buy something similar. They call it a 10 in one. I love my current one but it’s fan is starting to wane and I want something bigger that does better air frying. My current air fryer blows a breaker in my house every time I use it, so a new solution needs to be found.
@Fuzzalini
Definitely time to get rid of your air fryer if that’s the case, BUT check out what else may be drawing power on that circuit first. At the break room of the ER I work at someone decided to plug in the commercial coffee pot and microwave in the same outlet. Would often trip the breaker if the microwave got turned on while the coffee pot was cycling. Moving one device to a different circuit branch solved that problem
We love our multifunction air fryer/toaster oven. It does a decent job of toast (though it takes much longer than a toaster). The trade-off is that it allows us to cook/reheat a lot of things that would require an oven without turning on the full-sized wall oven in the summertime. Definitely a plus.
@Kyeh
Was that red silicone (?) piece on the front of your rack part of the original setup, or was that some aftermarket thing? Pretty sweet either way. We have a wooden gizmo about the size of a standard wooden ruler which has a notch down the side and a notch in the end. It allows you to hook the front of the rack and pull it out (side notch) or push it in (end notch) without burning yourself. It’s been super handy. I have made several over the years to gift to friends.
It’s rare that I use the oven, and almost always for holiday baking or a big pot of beans to cook when out of the house. (Timed bake, cast iron Dutch oven)
Our “toaster oven” is a Breville that consumes too much counter space but I love it: it’s one of those appliances that I would replace if it ever died (along with my Ninja Foodi and Anova immersion circulator), and it’s held up well for years. I use it daily as a toaster (8/10), a roaster (9/10) and an air fryer (8/10) and it doesn’t heat up the house like my wall oven or have an annoying evac fan that runs for half an hour afterwards. It’ll fit a small chicken whole or do the biggest frozen pizzas, and it fits a surprising array of “little” bakeware; it’s great for banana bread so long as I remember to lower the rack to bottom position first.
So if you see a Breville Smart Oven at the thrift store or they come up for sale here I give it a strong recommendation! In a year I bet we use it 600x or more, vs maybe 12 for the wall oven. Also as a silly fun fact, the manual recommends the top of the toaster as a “plate warmer.” (Because it gets hot, duh!!)
@2palms
We have a 12 rack (1 ft² each rack) dehydrator that we use as a plate warmer. Works great! Also does well to proof bread.
But yes, if I’m using the toaster oven I will frequently put stuff up there to warm.
There is no Neither
@mycya4me Yes, you are correct in the current situation.
However, it is possible to prefer one of them while liking neither.
@mycya4me
You must pick one
@kittykat9180 I guess you are trying to Kat around with me? I don’t want either,
I chose the oven, more versatile. PITB to reheat french fries in a toaster.

@mediocrebot OK, I double-clutched.
But you got a thing for table 7?

@tweezak
This happens to us without a learning disability too.
Toaster oven.
It can do what a toaster can do but also do like 4 other things.

I once made a full-sized New York style cheesecake in a small toaster oven. It took 2 hrs, but was perfect!
Versatility of use while taking up a little more space on the counters, without having to waste energy using a giant oven for smaller tasks.
@kshayabusa Perfect description.

@chienfou Smart! I retired my dehydrator and sprang for a (refurb) freeze dryer, but those are both a really great “off-label” use of a dehydrator.
I have one of everything - toaster, toaster oven, air fryer and a regular oven. I like each for specific reasons.
Have you ever heard of the brave little toaster oven? no, that is just stupid
